Twenty years. Tons of experience. I taught myself to code websites. Then came seven years at marketing and advertising agencies, where I managed large teams and executed multi-million dollar projects on grueling schedules, learning how to deliver great design, build relationships, and get sh*t done. Pivoting to the nonprofit arts – film, to be exact – I did big work on a tiny budget. Overhauled our brand, increased donations by double digits, launched new programs, wrote a strategic plan, sold out gala events, and got stories placed in major outlets like The Washington Post.
As a consultant, I now focus on growing businesses and organizations that do good, especially those centered on arts, education, or the environment. I’ve developed brand strategies, completed marketing audits, written marketing materials, pitched PR stories, and copyedited entire books. When I have a free moment, I also teach and present on writing and media.
